(Inter)Stellar Links!

I’ve had a love affair with space ever since I was seven and I saw the Millennium Falcon go into hyper-space for the first time. I relished doing space activities both as a student and as a teacher, so of course I was drawn to space crafts on Pinterest. Look below to see some of my favorite activites and see if anything catches your eye!

Sparkly Space Playdough! We play with a lot of kinetic sand, clay, and other fun kinds of sculpting toys here at Kids Nook, and I can imagine nothing better than jazzing it up to look like the brilliant night sky!

Anyone else wanna visit the planets within the comfort of your own home? Try this great Solar System in a Box activity from Playful Learning (complete with a Pluto option).

Now this activity combines two of my favorite things: sewing and stars! The Stargazing Sewing Cards are a great way to learn about constellations and help with your child’s fine motor skills. Even better: you can download these cards for free!

Now of course no trip to outer space is truly acheivable without taking your very own rocket ship! This activity at Science Sparks is a great way to learn about the science of pressure and rockets. But if getting messy isn’t really your thing, you can always go with the classic Balloon Rocket Ship.

So there you go guys! Great space activities to get you and your child in a Super Nova mood! Now get out there and explore the final frontier!
