Kids Nook Reads: I’m the Best!

Have you ever looked at the people around you and thought to yourself: “Wow! I am the best!” It’s okay if you have; we’re all the best at something. You can be the  best artist at school, the best at math, or even the best pizza eater! But chances are you have some friends who are better at somethings than you are.

This week’s story is about a little dog who thinks he’s the best at EVERYTHING.

Finding Food with Flutterby Butterfly

This week we explore a new story called Flutterby Butterfly, the story of a newly hatched butterfly who just can’t figure out how to eat! Does he chomp, does he slurp, or does he use his mouth like a straw and suck up his food?

First the kids gathered flowers for the butterfly…

Then we made some juice that we could drink through straws, just like the butterfly.

Of course, when a butterfly drinks certain colors, it can affect the colors of his wings right?

It was a fun activities, and the kids really enjoyed it!

Happy eating everyone!

Story Gardens meet Mole and Ant

One of our wonderful new programs at Kids Nook is Story Gardens (Masal Bahçe), where we read wonderful stories about exploring the world with the kids, then make our very own gardens, little things we can take with us when we have to live in a big city. This week’s story was Bahçıvan Köstebek ve Uçan Karınca Kıvırcık, a cute story about a mole who makes a wonderful home for his new little ant friend.

Afterwards we made our own garden homes for our wild friends. We started with some dirt and moss.

Then we added things like flowers, a miniature home, and pretty rocks to decorate it.

Last but not least, we added a very special friend… a real life snail!

Kids Cook

Earlier this summer we got to do a lot of fun cooking activities with the kids. Now that the weather is getting a little cooler, staying inside and baking is even more fun, especially now that we’re working with professional caterers from the Cici Bici Cafe!

This week we made a sweet kind of pasta salad using fun pasta shapes and our very favorite fruits.

The kids had a great time, and they even got to wear these cool chef hats!
