My Oh My! This Old Lady Swallowed… a Fly?!

This is probably one of my favorite stories to tell to our kids, mostly because it is just so absurd! I mean, an old lady swallows a fly, that I can believe. But a whole horse?! Crazy.

Despite the breaches in logic, our kids love this story just as much as we do. They feeding the old lady lots of bizarre animals…lol2
Then we get to go to our light tables and teach her how to eat right!

First we make the old lady out of kinetic sand and colored pasta.

Then we look inside her mouth and see…. flies!!!

lol5

Oh no! What should we do? Quick! Let’s trap the flies!

lol8

Phew! They’re all gone! Now we can teach the old lady how to enjoy some real food, like yummy grapes and sand cakes!

What Have We Been Up To? Take a Look!

This month has been a big month for Kids Nook, but probably the biggest (and best) change is the addition of our new and improved Sensory Station!

DSC_0082

That’s right friends, ALL of that stuff is just for our sensory games! Look at how beautiful and organized it is!

DSC_0085

Colored beans, rice, walnuts, sand, all of it is ready and waiting for us to play some great games with our kids!

But that’s not all! Take a look at what we’ve done inside our classrooms…

Isn’t that just the best? We certainly think so. We’ll probably be continuing to add things, but for now we’re going to bask in the greatness of what we have so far 🙂

Have a great Monday!

Jumping Clay: A Great Addition to Your Classroom

You may have been on our site before and wondered “How did they make such cute animals and accessories for their activities?” I’ll let you in on the secret… it’s Jumping Clay! We’ve been using it at Kids Nook for a few months now and let me tell you: it’s amazing!

jc1

Jumping Clay is a modeling clay that molds easily, cleans up quickly, and naturally hardens if left out for a few hours so you can have professional looking clay models without having to bake them.

jc4

Jumping Clay is non-toxic, comes in many different colors, and is lots of fun to play with!
