This week at Sensory Storytime we had a visit from one of our old friends: The Very Hungry Caterpillar! We made special little houses for him, fed him lots of food, and then even made some pillows to remember our time together! Take a look below the cut to see some memories from our cool activity!
This week was a bit of a Hungry Caterpillar week, can you tell? That’s okay, it’s absolutely one of our favorite stories! For our Sensory Storytime classes, we had the kids participate in a number of ways.
First they had to find the caterpillar eggs inside our sensory bins (or bowls!)
Next they made leaf homes for the little Jumping Clay caterpillars so that the little caterpillars could have lots and lots of food!
And after the caterpillar went inside his caccoon, he came out…
A big beautiful butterfly!
What fun! What’s your favorite thing about Eric Carle’s stories? Tell us in the comments below!
One of our favorite stories here at Kids Nook is hands-down The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. In this classic story the Caterpillar goes and eats lots and lots of yummy food, so we thought this would be a great opportunity to invite famous Turkish chef Yasemin Ustay to teach our kids how to make some great cookies!
How many animals and colors could you recognize? Well thanks to Eric Carle’s Brown Bear the kids here at Sensory Storytime know quite a few!
Next we built little vacation homes for our bears and his animal frlends (can you see the white dog?)
A perfect get-away for a bear and his friends!
