Kids Nook Reads: Rhyming Rabbit

Guys, I get  to read a lot of good books here at the store. It’s one of the (many) perks to working at Kids Nook. But this little gem by Julia Donaldson is definitely in my Top 5 favorites. Rhyming Rabbit may seem like a silly book designed with glitter to attract readers, but the story is perfect for those of us who love what words can do.

Kids Nook Reads: Look! A Book!

When I was a kid one of my favorite thing to do was sit down and “read” Where’s Waldo (Where’s Wally for all of you Brits out there).  The weird illustrations of funny people doing silly things would make me giggle, but the best part was looking for the man in the red and white striped sweater. This week though, I may have found my new favorite “seek and find” books called Look! A Book!

Story Gardens meet Mole and Ant

One of our wonderful new programs at Kids Nook is Story Gardens (Masal Bahçe), where we read wonderful stories about exploring the world with the kids, then make our very own gardens, little things we can take with us when we have to live in a big city. This week’s story was Bahçıvan Köstebek ve Uçan Karınca Kıvırcık, a cute story about a mole who makes a wonderful home for his new little ant friend.

Afterwards we made our own garden homes for our wild friends. We started with some dirt and moss.

Then we added things like flowers, a miniature home, and pretty rocks to decorate it.

Last but not least, we added a very special friend… a real life snail!

What a wonderful little project, don’t you agree? And the kids loved it as well!

Musical Mood Links

Here at Kids Nook we are firm believers in dancing and playing awesome music, especially when you have something great to celebrate. It could be anything really, like the great weather, a good grade on a test, being happy in general, as long as we get an excuse to dance and make music! This Thursday I thought it would be fun to share with you some fun music related links. Take a look, and get your groove on!
